The face behind CBSA is retired Alberta Fish and Wildlife Officer John Clarke, holding positions as District Officer, Problem Wildlife Specialist and Predatory Response Team Leader (PRTL) with 34 years of experience. John has been involved with over 1500 human-wildlife conflicts, Has held positions as Lead Investigator or team member in 14 mauling investigations and 10 self defense Wildlife incidents. He has 16 years of experience working as a K9 handler and coordinator with the Alberta Government Karelian Bear Dog Unit, Conducting Aversive Conditioning on different species of wildlife. He has also trained officers on the capturing and tranquilizing of wildlife, monitoring of radio collared wildlife and the proper releasing of the wildlife in question.
In addition to his career John has received several awards over his life span . John was also instrumental in the development of the Crowsnest Pass Bear Smart Association, acting as a liaison to the association for over 12 years. This course was developed to enhance the individuals knowledge and confidence while dealing with an animal encounter. As a family man and outdoorsmen, John knows the importance of education and safety around wildlife when you are exploring the outdoors. Protect yourself, family and Wildlife.
